Microsoft aware of Registry hack of windows XP and warns you not to

Windows XP Security Updates

Windows XP runs on a total of 26.29% of all computers globally now. Thats a pretty significant number of people to own a decade old OS. Commitment is good and even after Microsoft’s continuous effort to make people upgrade by stopping security updates people keep finding ways to get past it.

The recent hack to receive updates is something Microsoft is aware of and warns users not to.

“We recently became aware of a hack that purportedly aims to provide security updates to Windows XP customers,” Microsoft said in a statement given to ZDNet on Monday. “The security updates that could be installed are intended for Windows Embedded and Windows Server 2003 customers and do not fully protect Windows XP customers. Windows XP customers also run a significant risk of functionality issues with their machines if they install these updates, as they are not tested against Windows XP.”

The statement continued, “The best way for Windows XP customers to protect their systems is to upgrade to a more modern operating system, like Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.”

But seriously…. People using XP, UPGRADE will u !?

Microsoft and Micromax have been having talks on a partnership for quite some time and looks like the talks have ended positively for micromax. India’s newest hardware partner for Microsoft will be Micromax as they will be bring more cheap and affordable Windows 8.1 handsets to the Indian market. This along with the announcement of the free licensing of their OS for those devices 9″ and less would prove to be a great plus for the Indian market.

Direct X 12 teaser- Lower-level access

Looks like all those rumors in the rumor mill about the DirectX 12 might soon be put to rest. Earlier today, Microsoft teased DirectX 12 saying that it will be unveiled at Game Developers Conference 2014 that will be held on the 20th of this month. One of the event schedules of microsoft,

DirectX: Evolving Microsoft’s Graphics Platform (Presented by Microsoft)

For nearly 20 years, DirectX has been the platform used by game developers to create the fastest, most visually impressive games on the planet.

However, you asked us to do more. You asked us to bring you even closer to the metal and to do so on an unparalleled assortment of hardware. You also asked us for better tools so that you can squeeze every last drop of performance out of your PC, tablet, phone and console.

Come learn our plans to deliver.

“You also asked us for better tools so that you can squeeze every last drop of performance out of your PC, tablet, phone and console.”

So one thing that most of the Game Devs wanted was a lower level access to hardware, which was the reason for AMD to move away from the DirectX drift into the creation of Mantle (Note: AMD is also a partner). This would make certain that more modern games would be able to leverage the power of the CPU which is something that hasn’t been seen on a more widespread level.

This all sounds so cool but it seems likely that this would just be the announcement for the new platform and we might start seeing DirectX 12 only on the next generation platform of Windows.(Windows 9 perhaps)…

Former CEO of Nokia to head Xbox divison #disaster ?

Microsoft have decided that Stephan Elop, Executive Vice President, Devices & Services at Nokia and Former CEO of Nokia Corporation, will be taking over the entirety of the Xbox division. This is following Don Mattrick, who left the company after the launch of the Xbox one.

Microsoft also chose Julie Larson-Green,20-year Microsoft veteran Larson-Green had led the Devices and Studios group with responsibility for all hardware development including Xbox, Surface and accessories and also oversaw Microsoft Studios, which “include(d) development of games, entertainment and premium content experiences for all devices across the company, to take up the role of Chief Experience Officer (CXO) of the “My Life & Work” team in Lu’s Applications and Services Group (ASG). She will be working along side Elop once the Nokia acquisition is complete, until when she will be continuing her current role.

Many feel however that appointing Elop to head the Xbox division could be a bad thing. His track record at Nokia suggests “During the 3 years Elop was Nokia CEO, Nokia revenues fell 40%, Nokia profits fell 95%, Nokia market share collapsed in smartphones from 34% to 3.4%, Nokia’s credit rating went from A to junk, Nokia’s share price dropped 60% in value and Nokia’s market capitalization lost 13 Billion dollars in value. The Financial Times calculated that Nokia shareholders ended up paying Elop a bonus of 1 million Euros for every 1.5 billion in market capital that Elop was able to destroy while Nokia CEO.”

What will become of the Xbox is still a big question mark. Maybe he might do well here. We will have to wait and see how this pans out.
