Galaxy Note 4 – #Samsung steps things up a notch ! #handsOn #unpacked2014

Samsung Galaxy Note 4

So we all expected this, Samsung swooping into the game just as Apple preps it’s 5.5″ “whatever”. So this is the Galaxy Note 4. It seems at first glance that Samsung have considered to take into account the different issues that were pointed out to them previously such as the inclusion of metal smoother UI and the growing demand for selfies.

The phone now includes a band of metal that runs around the phone preserving that faux-leather backing that Samsung seems to have an obsession with. The backing is good, don’t get me wrong but it does still seem like the same phone as all the others on their lineup. The design otherwise is pleasing with a rectangular profile and typical placements of Buttons. However the new texure in the front of the phone and the S-pen Does look good.

In terms of UI Samsung seems to be doing an amazing job in the multitasking department. The ability to multitask seamlessly in window mode or floating mode is elegant and Samsung has integrated this in the recent apps menu very well. Other than that Samsung has kept the same TouchWiz UI that it had on the Note 3 with minor changes.

The phone sports a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, as well as a Snapdragon 805 processor (and  a newer Exynos chip outside of LTE markets), along with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 16-megapixel camera. The front facing camera is 3.7MP and has OIS.

The Detailed Specs are here : GSMArena

Higher end Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime might be in the works

It’s been 2 weeks since the launch of the Galaxy S5 and the rumors suggest that there might be a higher end “PRIME” version in the works that might be sporting a 2K or QHD Display. In the beginning of April a mysterious device dubbed SM-G906S appeared online which initially made us wonder if this might be the even higher end Prime.

Another hint was when SM-G906 model has cropped up on Indian import site Zauba. According to a manifest, four examples of this mysterious phone were shipped from Samsung’s native South Korea for the purposes of “R&D”.

The rumored specs for this phone are,

  • 5.2-inch 2560 x 1440 display
  • 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 CPU
  • Adreno 420 GPU
  • 3GB of RAM

Samsung however have shunned all questions about this mystery phone aside and it seems like we will have to wait a bit longer to find what the PRIME is.

Samsung stop cheating on benchmarks starting Android 4.4 – Turning over a new leaf

Samsung was widely known for it’s cheating on the Android Platform. This became evident from the time the Galaxy S4(Exynos variants of the Galaxy S 4 and Note 3) came out. Although others did follow or others were caught after Samsung was, it was still criticized and even banned from many benchmark applications.

Samsung seems to have had a change of heart and stoped cheating on benchmarks. The new Android 4.4 update that is to follow will not lock frequencies at max or turn off thermal throttling in benchmarking applications.

Galaxy S4 prices slashed in INDIA by 10 Grand !

The Galaxy S4, One of Samsung’s best sellers last year seems to going down in terms of price. The phone that cost nearly Rs.42,000 ($680) at the time of launch is now cut down to Rs30,000 ($485) in the Indian market. While this seems to be a compelling value, it could also point to the fact that the newer Galaxy S5 that was announced at Mobile World Congress 2014 might not be prices as high as expected. There seems to be a good possibility that the phone may cost along the $700 price tag rather than the rumored $1000 price tag.

April 11 will be the day that we can expect to see the phone in the market and it might have some value after all. HOPEFULLY

Samsung Unpacked 5- 24th feb

Samsung promises a new flagship this February 24th at ”Unpacked 5″ event at Mobile World Congress ! It should most probably be the Galaxy S5 but Samsung haven’t launched their “S” lineup of phones after the S2, so it’s still something we might have to wait and see.
